Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home recognizes the needs of
persons experiencing dementia to be different from persons who
experience other issues associated with aging. Dementia care requires
specially trained individuals who approach care with an ability to
assess needs based on behavior. Our approach is provide an unhurried,
relaxed atmosphere during meals, bathing, and other activities of daily
living.
Our
philosophy for care in the secured unit is to
promote security, comfort, dignity and understanding while working closely with families
to determine the needs of the residents. The unit provides a spacious
environment that allows for a variety of group and individual activities
to occur simultaneously. Amenities include a covered porch, enclosed
gardens, and a water fountain where residents can enjoy the outdoors.
Residents are encouraged to use the indoor and outdoor walking routes
for daily exercise.
Support for family members of persons
experiencing dementia is of the utmost importance. Clifton Lutheran
Sunset Home hosts a local Alzheimer’s Support Group in conjunction with
the North Central Texas Alzheimer’s Association and encourages
involvement of family members and friends, as well as interested
community members. |
